Does your business needs a website?
by Abhijeet Singh Bundela | Dec 2024So you read the question. If your business needs a website? should you really invest in it? Well, the very short answer is if you have a good amount of profit, even if it’s not much, you can always have a very basic website, which can make your clients or customers find important information very quickly, that can help boost your business. Of course basic websites usually cost really less, even free at times, with the help of online tools, but at the cost of things other than money, that we will talk about later.
Decide what you are really looking for and why you want a website:
Are you looking to get more clients or customers for your work, improve profit, or really want to reach out to tell people who you are?
People usually get the website for these three reasons: for their already established work, for some business websites that is extremely required, and they can’t work without any online presence, so that is totally out of the question.
For that you can read the article “How much you should pay for the website.”, you can read that after this article for extra info and learn about website categories, pricing, and more.
You need to entertain the idea of why you thought about the first point that you need the website if it really holds the value. If it’s because your neighbor talked about it? Or because he or someone, something really gave you good ideas and insights that made you think, hold that or write it down, your inspiration.
After that, understand if getting the website will really make a difference.
For small shops, stores, and local business owners
Maybe you just have a retail shop? Small grocery store or something that heavily relies on local marketing and word of mouth and it’s for the local people and if your business doing alright in this case you probably can do alright without website but in today’s age when everyone has phone getting the basic website that shows the info about your work, and even items you sell services you provide with prices, and every single time you don’t have to tell it to people, they can just search it up, it’ll save time and can boost the business in return, if you choose the right website (domain name) and did good SEO (search engine optimization).
Advantage of good SEO any time someone search up services for your area your website will show up in first page even at top, and then you have more people coming in getting your services or doing business with you. Learn about website levels in the website levels section.
For people who really want to expand their business and have big plans:
If you’re looking to expand your business and have big plans, then not having a website is a huge disadvatage. Because you’re missing out on lots of opportunities, clients, customers, and offers. You should have at least a basic to standard (advisable) level website with good branding, UI/UX, and SEO; just a combination of these three will give you huge leads and a boost in traffic that will convert directly to profit or actions you're looking for, and help you expand your business. Good to high-level SEO will boost your website ranking in Google and other search engines. People will find your website there if they search up your business name or something related to your business, especially in certain places if you included it, and good branding, UI UX design will make people stay on your website longer. In the end, it’ll help you expand your business and can become the main way that does it.
There are three levels of websites you can build:
Basic website:
A basic website is a website that usually focuses on giving the basic important info about something to the viewer in a fast and convenient way, so people can learn more about the website subject; information can be about business info, opening/closing hours, kind of services they provide, contact info, what their skill level is, etc. It can be a business website, personal website, portfolio website, etc. Basic websites usually cost low because they usually have basic design, UI/UX, and SEO, but it can still give a big boost in terms of viewership, even with these basic things done right.
Basic websites can even be built free, but at the cost of professionalism, good unique UI/UX design, and SEO optimization, it can make a website look repetitive and bland, and it has no guarantee that it’ll even show up on Google when people search something related to your website the reason is poor to no SEO and chosed domain name. So I’ll advisable even basic websites you hire some professional developer that has experience and knows what they are doing.
Standard website:
A standard website is when you start putting more layers over a basic website in terms of functionalities and professionalism; you start adding more functionalities, like functionalities of buying things online, sending their details directly, adding a payment system, better SEO, and better UI and UX design. It just makes your website better and more convenient for people to use, but it’ll entirely depend on if your business really needs those functionalities if they help you in any way for sure; if not, then a basic website will do almost equally well. But if your business can improve with extra functionalities, better SEO, better UI, and better UX, then you should do that; otherwise, you’re missing out. The standard level of a website is a big category; it can even be divided into subcategories because it covers so many websites, but you get the idea.
Premium or high-end website:
Here we try to make the website as perfect as we can and improve upon the standard level of the website; we remove extra clutter and remove anything unnecessarily that doesn’t help but takes up space; we put much priority on user experience (UX design); we try to make added services efficient and fast; we make color theme design look as pleasant and professional as we can; and we can improve upon the standard level of user interface (UI) design. We try to make SEO as perfect and high-level as we can and do much testing. So, of course, premium-level websites cost way more than basic to standard-level websites and take the most amount of time; many projects can really go on for many, many months even and take a large amount of work and brain power.
Most businesses will do really well with a standard level of website; some may just need a basic level website, and some are really looking for perfection and getting the best results, so they should go for a premium level website if they have the budget and time for it.
